Object Classes

Object classes define the types of attributes an entry can contain.

Most object classes define a set of required and optional attributes. This attribute list represents both required and allowed data that you can store on the entry.

Attributes

Attributes hold information about a specific descriptive aspect of the entry. Each attribute consists of an attribute type and one or more attribute values. The attribute type identifies the class of information given by that attribute (for example, telephone number). The attribute value is the particular instance of information appearing in that entry (for example, 555-1999).

Attributes generally have short, mnemonic names. For example, cn is the abbreviation for commonName.

Attribute Syntax
Each attribute has a corresponding syntax definition. The syntax definition describes the type of information provided by the attribute.

Attribute syntax is used by the Directory Server to perform sorting and pattern matching.

1.      Binary                 – Indicates that values for this attribute are binary

2.      Boolean   – Having two values true or false, Yes or No

1. ces -Indicates that values for this attribute are case sensitive
2. cis - Indicates that values for this attribute are not case sensitive.
3. tel – telephone number (identical to cis, but blanks and dashes (-) are ignored during comparisons).
4. Dn Indicates that values for this attribute are DNs.
5. Int Indicates that valid values for this attribute are numbers.
6. Operational Operational attributes are not displayed in search results.

Distinguished Names

Just as a file path uniquely identifies a file within a file system, a directory entry is uniquely identified within the directory tree using a distinguished name (DN). A DN identifies the entry by using a series of comma-separated attributes and attribute values

Thus, a DN might be    uid=bjensen, ou=people, o=airius.com

1. First set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to iplanet/servers/bin/https/lib like

Create the .p12

1. Copy the key to a file named server.key
2. Copy the cert to a file name server.crt
3. create a .p12 file from both of the above, choose a nick name( It can be any any you like, this is just a variable)

Export SSL Key/Cert from i-Planet/sunone webserver

1. Check if they are the same name

2. Check if they are in the same package

3.Check the class loader.
